ASTROMOVES is a qualitative study of
astrophysicists and their career moves. There have been many
quantitative studies of astrophysicists which provide some information
on their mobility and how the mobility of men and women is different.
However, it is only through interviewing astrophysicists that we can
reveal the nuances of such differences. Thus, qualitative studies reveal
the meanings behind the numbers. This talk is an overview of the
ASTROMOVES project with research results. The project centres diversity
across many identifying characteristics including gender, ethnicity and
disability. There will be a documentary film on the project, thus film
clips will be used to illustrate points.
